Description For Thermal Manufacturing Engineer, Global Capacity Delivery

Google's Manufacturing Operations team is seeking a Thermal Manufacturing Engineer to join their Global Capacity Delivery team. This role is crucial in developing and implementing manufacturing solutions for thermal assemblies in Google's custom-designed equipment infrastructure. The position combines mechanical engineering expertise with manufacturing process development, requiring deep knowledge of thermal solutions and manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in thermal assembly manufacturing and process development, with a strong background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering. They will be responsible for developing manufacturing strategies, performing Design for Excellence, and driving implementation of manufacturing solutions for thermal assemblies. The role involves working closely with manufacturing partners and engineering peers to ensure effective communication of design, process, and material changes.

As a key member of the Thermal Commodity team, you'll provide manufacturing engineering expertise in supplier selection, qualification, and management throughout the product lifecycle. You'll be involved in researching and developing advanced thermal manufacturing solutions, with a particular focus on high-performance liquid cooling solutions. The role requires both technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities For Thermal Manufacturing Engineer, Global Capacity Delivery

  • Be responsible for developing manufacturing strategy, performing Design for Excellence (DFX) and driving implementation of manufacturing solutions for thermal assemblies
  • Drive concurrent engineering through effectively communicating design, process, tooling, and material changes to manufacturing partners and design engineering peers
  • Be technical representative of Thermal Commodity team, providing manufacturing engineering expertise in supplier selection, qualification and management
  • Research, develop and qualify advanced thermal manufacturing solutions
  • Simulate and/or oversee simulation of high performance liquid cooling solutions
  • Provide support for manufacturing and field quality issues
  • Own resolution of manufacturing/supplier issues and driving design issues with the Engineering team

Requirements For Thermal Manufacturing Engineer, Global Capacity Delivery

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience in process or product development with thermal assemblies for electronics packaging systems
  • Experience with simulation or performance analysis of liquid cooling thermal solutions, precision machining, brazing, soldering, skiving, zipper fin stamping/assy, welding, purge/fill, or sintering processes
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Experience with Modeling CAD (Creo) and Thermal Analysis (FloTHERM) (preferred)
  • Understanding of high performance liquid cooling thermal solutions (preferred)
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Well-focused attention to details
