Google is seeking a TPU Pre-Silicon Validation Engineer to join their Google Cloud team, focusing on shaping the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration. This role is integral to the development and validation of Google's Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) technology, which powers their most demanding AI/ML applications. The position sits within the ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization, responsible for Google's hardware, software, and machine learning infrastructure.

The role combines hardware and software expertise, requiring deep knowledge of chip validation, firmware development, and system integration. You'll work on integrating hardware and software stacks on emulation platforms, creating custom test cases, and ensuring the optimal performance of Google's TPU fleet. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while collaborating with multiple teams across Product Firmware, System Software, and ASIC Design.

As a TPU Pre-Silicon Validation Engineer, you'll be responsible for critical tasks including silicon bring-up, validation, characterization, and qualification. The role requires strong technical skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog, computer architecture, and digital design, along with the ability to debug complex systems and develop testing infrastructure.

Responsibilities For TPU, Pre-Silicon Validation Engineer, Google Cloud

  • Enable bring-up of chip features through firmware and driver stack. Integrate and validate hardware and software designs in pre-silicon
  • Architect and design Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) models for Emulation/Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Prototypes
  • Design solutions to improve hardware modeling accuracy and scale to various system configurations
  • Bringup chip features on software reference models and hardware prototypes
  • Develop the integration plan with software and system partners, coordinate hardware and software delivery and benchmark performance

Requirements For TPU, Pre-Silicon Validation Engineer, Google Cloud

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in architecture, hardware, digital design, and software co-design
  • 3 years of experience in Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • Experience in computer architecture and digital design or Internet Protocol (IP) integration
