Google is seeking a Vice President of Software Engineering for Data Center Infrastructure to lead their global software engineering teams. This executive role involves overseeing the development, testing, and deployment of critical infrastructure that powers Google's Platform Infrastructure. The position requires a seasoned leader with 15+ years of software development experience and 8+ years in QA engineering delivery.
The role combines technical expertise with strategic leadership, requiring deep knowledge of cloud architecture, distributed systems, and large-scale infrastructure. The successful candidate will drive innovation in Google's data center infrastructure, managing teams responsible for compute infrastructure, deployment, testing, and various specialized areas including ML training/inference and YouTube transcoding.
As a leader, you'll be responsible for developing strategic visions, establishing engineering best practices, and ensuring the highest standards of software quality. The position offers a competitive compensation package of $550,000 base salary plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Vice President, Software Engineering, Data Center Infrastructure
- Develop a strategic vision for the Google Data Center Infrastructure organization
- Lead a large Engineering organization in all areas of compute infrastructure, deployment and testing
- Drive software quality metrics, focusing on continuous improvement
- Design, build, and deploy the software infrastructure that powers all Google and Google Cloud services
- Influence and establish best engineering practices through solid design decisions, processes, and tools
Requirements For Vice President, Software Engineering, Data Center Infrastructure
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Compute Architecture, or equivalent practical experience
- 15 years of experience in software development, design and architecture, data structures/logarithms, and testing
- 8 years of experience with QA engineering delivery
- Experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks
- Strong understanding of private and public cloud design considerations
- PhD degree preferred
- Ability to work with globally distributed, cross-functional teams
