Description For Staff Software Engineer - Alloy and OpenTelemetry Collector

Grafana Cloud is a composable observability platform integrating metrics, logs, and traces with Grafana. The Observability department focuses on enabling developers to understand the health and performance of their applications and infrastructure. As a Staff Software Engineer for Alloy and OpenTelemetry Collector, you'll work on Grafana Alloy, an open source OpenTelemetry Collector distribution. You'll contribute to new functionality, review design documents, be an active member of the OpenTelemetry collector community, support customers with observability pipelines, and participate in on-call rotations. The role requires passion for observability, excellent communication skills, and relevant open source experience, ideally in OpenTelemetry or Prometheus. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver new functionality for the Alloy team
  • Contribute to and review design documents
  • Actively participate in the OpenTelemetry collector community

  • Collaborate with other Grafana teams
  • Participate in on-call rotations
