Description For Principal Network Security Engineer

Granicus is seeking a Principal Network Security Engineer to expand its Cyber Defense program. This role is crucial in protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's assets. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can build and operationalize network security prevention and detection systems, and collaborate with other technology teams to create a secure environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a subject matter expert for network security engineering technologies
  • Providing leadership within the Network Security Engineering team and across Granicus
  • Implementing ingress security controls for public Internet-facing SaaS products
  • Working with teams to implement network controls to protect cloud assets
  • Identifying technical challenges and formulating engineering solutions
  • Applying design and problem-solving skills to multi-team projects
  • Building new detection capabilities based on research of new attack techniques
  • Maintaining, tuning, and sunsetting existing detection capabilities
  • Collaborating with SOC Operations and Security Engineering teams
  • Researching new security technology trends to reduce exposure
  • Providing mentorship and leadership for other Cyber Defense personnel

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Advanced knowledge of network security engineering technologies and cloud networking
  • Expertise in cloud and on-premises network security technologies
  • Working knowledge of Cyber Security detection and response processes
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to work independently
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM, EDR, and CSPM

Requirements For Principal Network Security Engineer

  • Advanced knowledge of network security engineering technologies
  • Expertise in modern networking technologies, especially cloud networking
  • Expertise with cloud network security technologies
  • Expertise with on-premises network security technologies
  • Working knowledge of Cyber Security detection and response processes
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to be a self-starter
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to lead others and manage direct reports
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools (SIEM, EDR, CSPM)
  • Ability to write technical Standard Operating Procedures
