Description For Characterisation and Bring-Up Engineer

Graphcore, a pioneering company in AI compute hardware and software backed by SoftBank Group, is seeking a Characterisation and Bring-Up Engineer to join their innovative team. This role is crucial in developing next-generation artificial intelligence compute systems that are transforming the future of technology.

The position involves working at the intersection of Architecture, Silicon Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Operations, and Product teams. You'll be responsible for the bring-up and characterisation of cutting-edge silicon devices and system platforms, requiring a deep understanding of silicon and platform products.

As a Characterisation and Bring-Up Engineer, you'll create and execute comprehensive testing plans to ensure silicon devices operate correctly under all conditions. This involves both automated and manual testing in laboratory and datacenter environments. You'll work with state-of-the-art technology, including high-performance processors and system-on-chip systems, while utilizing your expertise in silicon process technology and high-speed digital interfaces.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, including proficiency in Python or similar languages for automation and data analysis. You'll need to be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Your experience in silicon digital device design characterisation and understanding of measurement automation will be crucial for success.

Responsibilities For Characterisation and Bring-Up Engineer

  • Understand and document architecture and design requirements for characterisation
  • Create product specific characterisation plans
  • Liaise with engineering teams on test availability
  • Create and maintain automated system for characterisation testing
  • Execute manual characterisation tests when needed
  • Regular reporting on progress and issues
  • Produce characterisation reports with platform test results

Requirements For Characterisation and Bring-Up Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven track record of delivering technical output
  • Solid experience in silicon digital device design characterisation
  • Knowledge of silicon process technology
  • Knowledge of high-performance processor and system-on-chip systems
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, DDR)
  • Knowledge of measurement automation and data analysis
  • Ability to code automation and data analysis (Python, JMP)
  • Ability to work independently
