Description For Firmware QA Engineer

Gridware is on a mission to protect and enhance the electrical grid through innovative technology. As a privately-held company backed by top climate-tech and Silicon Valley investors, we're developing advanced sensing systems to analyze critical grid behavior and prevent catastrophic failures.

The Hardware Engineering team needs a Firmware QA Engineer to ensure the reliability of our devices that operate in extreme environments from snowy mountaintops to deserts. This role is crucial as our technology directly impacts public safety and infrastructure reliability.

You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining automated test frameworks, covering everything from static analysis to system testing. You'll work with hardware-in-the-loop test setups, collaborate with firmware engineers on bug resolution, and ensure our devices meet the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of firmware QA experience, strong proficiency in Python and C, and expertise with embedded systems. You'll work in a collaborative environment with alternating Mondays off and comprehensive benefits including health coverage and paid breaks.

Responsibilities For Firmware QA Engineer

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for firmware testing
  • Design and maintain automated hardware-in-the-loop test hardware
  • Identify, document, and track firmware bugs
  • Monitor and analyze test results
  • Create detailed test reports and quality metrics

Requirements For Firmware QA Engineer

Python
Linux
  • 3+ years of experience in firmware quality assurance or embedded systems testing
  • Experience with embedded systems, firmware development environments, and debugging
  • Proficiency in Python and C for test automation
  • Ability to read schematics and work with electronic test equipment
  • Proficiency in Linux-based environments
  • Experience with testing frameworks and tools
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies
  • Experience with agile development processes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
