Description For Senior Mechanical Engineer

Gridware is a privately-held company backed by leading climate-tech and Silicon Valley investors, focused on protecting and enhancing the electrical grid through advanced sensing technology. The Hardware Engineering team designs and tests devices that utilize high-precision sensor arrays to identify and prevent grid faults, operating in challenging environments from snowy mountaintops to forests and deserts.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll join a team responsible for creating devices that literally save lives. You'll work on systems that need to support diverse continuously-sampling sensors, designing for reliability in extreme conditions with a 10-year operational lifespan. The role combines mechanical design expertise with practical implementation, requiring strong skills in CAD, simulation, and manufacturing processes.

The position offers an opportunity to work on meaningful technology that directly impacts grid safety and reliability. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, oversee manufacturing processes, and contribute to product development. Responsibilities For Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration
  • Conduct simulations, prototyping, and testing to validate designs

Requirements For Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD software (ideally SolidWorks) and simulation tools
  • Strong in design for mass manufacturing of plastic and sheet metal components
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T principles, mechanical QA and tolerance stackup analysis
  • Experience designing for outdoor environments
  • Strong knowledge of materials science, manufacturing processes, and DFM/DFA principles
  • Experience with hands on prototyping, testing, and validation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements
