Description For Senior Data Platform Engineer - Analytics

Guidewire is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer for their Analytics team. This role offers a unique opportunity to transform the 500-year-old insurance industry from the inside out. Guidewire collects vast amounts of crucial data in the market, aiming to convert it into insights that influence billions of decision points annually across pricing, portfolio management, underwriting, claims management, and risk transfer.

The ideal candidate will join Guidewire Analytics, which helps insurers and financial institutions model new and evolving risks like cyber threats. By combining internet-scale data listening, adaptive machine learning, and insurance risk modeling, Guidewire Analytics provides insights to help P&C customers face new risks, seize new opportunities, and develop new products.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing cloud-based microservices for data collection
  • Creating REST APIs for Data as a Service
  • Implementing a Data Quality framework for automated checks across data pipelines
  • Managing CI/CD pipelines
  • Maintaining and optimizing existing data pipelines and infrastructure
  • Contributing to product requirements and performing code reviews
  • Collaborating with peer teams and supporting deliverables

The role requires:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent skills
  • 8+ years of professional development experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of Python and Object-Oriented Programming
  • Proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Strong experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, Step Function, S3, SQS)
  • Experience with Postgres, Redshift, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Airflow, Jenkins, FAST API, Flask Framework, and SQLalchemy
  • Ability to create and implement robust data quality systems
