Description For Senior Site Reliability Engineer

At Guidewire, we make software for Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance companies, offering tools to handle policies, claims, and billing. Our products run on the Guidewire Cloud Platform, serving hundreds of insurance providers globally. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be part of a team automating systems to improve efficiency and reliability. You'll work on Guidewire's cloud platform and InsuranceSuite products, ensuring optimal availability and performance. This role requires collaboration, ownership, and a passion for problem-solving at scale using technologies like AWS, Kubernetes, and Aurora. You'll need to be comfortable with automation, rapid self-education, and working in cloud-native environments. Key responsibilities include enhancing microservices applications, participating in design reviews, analyzing observability data, and improving operational metrics. You'll also create documentation, automate processes, and contribute to incident management. The ideal candidate has a strong background in software engineering, Linux systems, and AWS, with experience in containerization, databases, and observability tools. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on critical production systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and reliability.

Responsibilities For Senior Site Reliability Engineer

  • Collaborate with development teams to enhance reliability of microservices
  • Participate in design reviews and production readiness checks
  • Analyze observability data to improve operational metrics
  • Create system documentation and training materials
  • Automate processes for 24/7/365 operations
  • Build and maintain observability tooling and dashboards
  • Improve incident management lifecycle
  • Oversee and automate AWS infrastructure

Requirements For Senior Site Reliability Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Software engineering skills with Bash, Python, and/or Go
  • Experience with Java/Apache/Tomcat in production
  • Deep background with Linux systems
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with IaC tools like Terraform
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Helm, Kubernetes/EKS)
  • Experience with relational databases (Aurora Postgres, Oracle RDS)
  • Experience with observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, PagerDuty)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
