Gusto is seeking a Developer Enablement Lead for their Embedded Payroll (GEP) team. This role is crucial in building out Gusto's developer experience and will be foundational in shaping the future of their developer enablement efforts.
As the Developer Enablement Lead, you will:
- Own and improve Gusto's public documentation, creating clear, concise, and accurate content.
- Develop and manage technical tools to enhance the developer experience, such as managing GEP's Postman collection.
- Implement systems to track and monitor developer questions and issues.
- Engage with Gusto's developer community and demonstrate commitment to a world-class developer experience.
- Set direction and build out the role for the future as the first hire in this position.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating existing internal documentation and executing gap remediation strategies.
- Developing user-friendly API documentation, technical specifications, user guides, and knowledge base articles.
- Continuously improving documentation processes, tools, and practices.
- Creating visual aids like flowcharts, diagrams, and videos to complement written documentation.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather information and understand complex technical concepts.
- Working with marketing and product teams to develop content strategy for developer resources.
- Participating in usability testing and providing feedback on APIs, Flows, and other developer tools.
- Identifying, implementing, and maintaining Developer Enablement tools and resources.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 6+ years of total technical experience, with at least 2 years in Technical Writing and experience with REST APIs.
- Excellent writing skills, able to produce clean, concise, and approachable content.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A user-first approach to understanding and delivering solutions.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines.
- The ability to read, understand, and build short code samples in various programming languages (a plus).
Gusto offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on location and experience. The company has a hybrid work model, expecting employees to work from the office 2-3 days per week in Denver, San Francisco, or New York City.
