Sr. Staff Software Engineer

Gusto is seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer for the Entity Management team to lead the development of a new product aimed at simplifying compliance for entrepreneurs. This role involves defining the technical roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring engineers. The Entity Management team builds tools to manage the lifecycle of small businesses' legal and compliance needs, from incorporation to ongoing compliance and potential dissolution.

Key responsibilities include:

• Defining and executing the technical roadmap for the new product
• Collaborating with Product Management, Design, Customer Support, and Marketing teams
• Mentoring and guiding engineers
• Developing software development processes and technical approaches
• Implementing new functionality in legacy systems
• Acting as the technical leader, driving innovation and problem-solving

The ideal candidate will have:

• 12+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience in leading greenfield product development
• Strong collaboration and mentorship skills
• Excellent communication abilities
• Experience as a technical leader solving complex problems
