Backend Engineer

HackerRank is seeking a Backend Engineer to join their team in a remote position within India. The role involves executing and delivering large and complex projects end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery of product deliverables, and playing a key role in technical discussions. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in building web-based products, expertise in at least one dynamic programming language and one MVC web framework (preferably Ruby on Rails), and knowledge of database modeling and cloud technologies. Key Responsibilities:

• Execute and deliver large and complex projects end-to-end
• Ensure timely delivery of product deliverables
• Participate in technical discussions and provide guidance
• Improve key business and engineering metrics
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions
• Mentor junior engineers and set best practices
• Participate in hiring initiatives

Requirements:

• 2+ years of expertise in dynamic programming languages and MVC web frameworks
• Experience in database modeling and cloud technologies (preferably AWS)
• Track record in building highly-available and scalable distributed systems
• Strong coding practices and passion for refactoring
• Good stakeholder management skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with frontend frameworks (preferably React.js)
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and related deployment technologies
• Understanding of web application security best practices
