Backend Engineer

HackerRank, a leader in the developer skills market, is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our team in Bangalore, India. This role offers a unique hybrid work arrangement, requiring onsite presence during the 1st and 3rd months of each quarter.

As a Backend Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

• Executing and delivering complex projects end-to-end
• Ensuring timely delivery of product deliverables
• Leading technical discussions and providing guidance
• Improving key Business and Engineering metrics
• Participating in code reviews and architecture discussions
• Mentoring junior engineers and setting best practices
• Contributing to hiring initiatives

We're looking for candidates with:

• 2+ years of expertise in dynamic programming languages and MVC web frameworks (Ruby on Rails preferred)
• Strong database modeling skills, especially with relational DBs
• Experience with Cloud technologies, preferably AWS
• Proven track record in building scalable distributed systems
• Passion for code quality and refactoring

Nice-to-have skills include experience with React.js, Kubernetes, Docker, and web application security best practices.
