Harper is revolutionizing the $900 billion commercial insurance market with an AI-powered insurance brokerage that automates traditionally pre-internet processes. Fresh out of Y Combinator with an $8M seed round, they're seeking an exceptional AI Engineer focused on Growth to build their growth infrastructure from scratch.
The role involves creating systems that transform traditional insurance sales cycles into efficient, data-driven acquisition engines powered by AI agents. Working directly with the CEO and CTO, you'll shape growth strategy and technical roadmap with the ambitious goal of hitting $100M in run-rate ARR by December.
The tech stack is impressive and modern, including:
- AI Infrastructure: LangGraph, RAG systems, Claude, GPT-4
- Core Engineering: TypeScript/Node.js, Python, React/Next.js
- Data Platform: Snowflake/BigQuery, dbt, Fivetran/Airbyte
- Growth Tools: Segment/RudderStack, AI agentic CRM, Clay, Mutiny
The role offers base compensation of $125-220K with equity ranging from 0.25-1.0%. The position requires working from the San Francisco office 5.5 days per week, with relocation assistance provided.
You'll be responsible for building and optimizing the entire growth funnel, architecting data analytics infrastructure, implementing pricing analytics, and creating targeting models. The ideal candidate has experience building growth systems at hypergrowth B2B companies, is proficient in both TypeScript/Node.js and Python, and has a strong data-driven mindset.
The first 90 days will focus on setting up core data infrastructure, implementing tracking systems, building attribution models, developing lead scoring systems, and creating self-optimizing acquisition systems. This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage startup with ambitious growth goals and shape the future of commercial insurance through AI-driven solutions.
Responsibilities For AI Engineer - Growth
- Build and optimize entire growth funnel: lead generation → qualification → conversion → onboarding
- Architect data analytics infrastructure for actionable insights across growth channels
- Design and implement pricing analytics for optimizing customer acquisition costs
- Create targeting models for outbound campaigns
- Develop self-service onboarding flows
- Build seamless handoff points between marketing/sales systems and AI agents
- Establish growth experimentation frameworks
- Scale customer acquisition engine
Requirements For AI Engineer - Growth
- Strong experience with both TypeScript/Node.js and Python
- Experience with modern data/growth stacks (Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Hightouch, or equivalents)
- Experience building and scaling growth systems at B2B companies
- Proven track record of implementing systems that directly improved conversion metrics
- Deep understanding of growth analytics, funnel optimization, and experimentation
- Familiarity with AI agent frameworks and architectures
- Must be based in San Francisco and work in-office 5.5 days per week
- 1+ years of experience
