AI Engineer - Sales

Harper is building an AI-powered insurance brokerage that's revolutionizing the $900 billion commercial insurance market by automating processes that currently run on pre-internet systems. Fresh out of Y Combinator and emerging from stealth with $8M in funding, they're seeking an exceptional AI Engineer to build their end-to-end sales process and conversion systems from scratch.

The role focuses on creating AI-driven systems that transform traditional insurance sales cycles into efficient processes, improving conversion rates from lead to binded policy. Working directly with the CEO and CTO, you'll shape the sales automation strategy and technical roadmap.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building Voice AI systems capable of 15+ minute natural conversations
• Creating product-led experiences for lead information collection
• Developing multi-channel communication systems
• Building recommendation systems for insurance carrier submissions
• Creating AI agents for customer communication
• Implementing human-in-the-loop escalation systems

The tech stack is modern and comprehensive, including:

• TypeScript/Node.js and Python for core development
• Advanced voice AI and LLM technologies
• Document parsing with LlamaParser
• Agent orchestration using Mastra and LangGraph
• Multiple database systems including PostgreSQL, Redis, and vector stores

The position requires working from the San Francisco office 5.5 days per week, with relocation assistance provided. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both TypeScript/Node.js and Python, expertise with modern AI frameworks, and a proven track record of implementing systems that directly improve conversion metrics.
