Description For Flight Software Engineer II

Hermeus, an innovative aerospace and defense technology company, is revolutionizing air travel through the development of hypersonic aircraft. The company distinguishes itself by combining hardware-rich, iterative development with cutting-edge computing and autonomy technologies. This approach has already proven successful with their first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is being scaled through their Quarterhorse flight vehicle program.

As a Flight Software Engineer II, you'll be at the forefront of developing software for groundbreaking hypersonic aircraft systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that will fundamentally change the future of aviation. You'll be responsible for developing embedded flight software for various aircraft systems, including flight control, navigation, communication, and avionics.

The ideal candidate will bring 2+ years of embedded flight software development experience and strong programming skills in C/C++. You'll work in a collaborative environment, interfacing directly with hardware and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components. Your work will be crucial in developing safety-critical systems that meet rigorous industry standards.

This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and is passionate about aerospace innovation. You'll have the opportunity to work on unique projects like Darkhorse, an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed for military applications. The role offers competitive compensation and the chance to be part of a team that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible in aerospace technology.

Working at Hermeus means being part of a company that values merit, competence, and qualifications above all else. The company maintains a strong commitment to equal opportunity employment and fosters an inclusive work environment. This is a chance to be part of a team that's not just developing new technology, but reshaping the future of air travel.
