Description For Lead Fluid Systems Engineer

Hermeus, a pioneering aerospace and defense technology company, is revolutionizing air travel through the development of hypersonic aircraft. We're seeking a Lead Fluid Systems Engineer to spearhead our fluid systems engineering initiatives for next-generation hypersonic vehicles. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, focusing on propulsion and thermal management systems development.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking hypersonic technology, including projects like Quarterhorse and Darkhorse - an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed for military applications. You'll lead a team of engineers while directly contributing to the design, analysis, and testing of critical fluid systems.

As a Lead Fluid Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for transforming system requirements into practical hardware designs, conducting performance analyses, and overseeing testing procedures. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in fluid dynamics and heat transfer, along with strong leadership capabilities to guide and mentor team members.

The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of experience in fluid systems engineering, preferably in hypersonic or supersonic systems, combined with team leadership experience. You'll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where innovation and problem-solving are paramount. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the future of aerospace technology while working with cutting-edge hypersonic systems.

Located in Los Angeles, this role offers competitive compensation ranging from $150,000 to $180,000 annually. Due to the nature of our work in defense technology, candidates must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. Join us in pushing the boundaries of what's possible in aerospace engineering and be part of a team that's literally making history in hypersonic flight.
