Senior Software Engineer (Elixir)

Hiive is a fintech/marketplace startup connecting buyers and sellers of stock in venture-backed pre-IPO companies. As a profitable and rapidly growing business backed by tier one venture capital investors, we are seeking to scale our high performing team.

As a Senior Engineer at Hiive, you will be a hands-on contributor to the backend system powering our platform, while building a user-friendly interface. You will collaborate with technical leadership to deliver new core features to our application. You will work closely with your colleagues to refactor and improve the codebase; create a robust, scalable and secure infrastructure; and build an excellent and supportive engineering culture.

Responsibilities:

• Hands-on development of Elixir, Phoenix, and Ecto
• Strong experience working on frontend user interfaces
• Data modeling and software architecture for performant and maintainable code
• Integrating with third-party services through APIs and webhooks
• Secure API development
• Working directly with founders on building a product and a company
• Adapting to a quickly moving environment

Required Experience:

• Substantial expertise building backend systems with Elixir and Phoenix
• Strong experience utilizing TypeScript and React
• Ability to work in a team environment with a CI/CD driven workflow
• Philosophy in writing automated backend tests

Preferable Experience:

• Experience building GraphQL APIs using Absinthe
• Understanding of Postgres databases design and optimization
• Previous experience working in a fintech startup
