This role presents a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking robotics systems for planetary exploration, including NASA Mars rover missions.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $141,000 - $239,000, depending on experience and level (III or IV). As an Embedded Software Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing and maintaining robotic control and measurement software systems for both PCs and embedded systems. Your work will directly impact space exploration missions, allowing you to contribute to projects that will reach Mars, the Moon, and Saturn's moon Titan.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of software development experience, strong C/C++ programming skills, and a background in embedded systems. Responsibilities For Embedded Software Engineer III/IV

  • Develop and maintain robotic control and measurement software systems for PCs and embedded systems
  • Lead efforts in testing and validation of robotics software and control systems
  • Manage software field deployments and provide support on-site and remotely to customers
  • Derive and own software system requirements and schedules
  • Evaluate and identify improvements to system design with focus on robust autonomy
  • Interface with scientists and management teams for product development
  • Provide hands-on support to cross-functional product development teams
  • Write requirements and specification documents

Requirements For Embedded Software Engineer III/IV

Python
  • BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in software development for PC or embedded targets
  • Extensive knowledge of C/C++ development
  • Experience with testing frameworks and unit testing
  • Experience with Git version control system
  • Experience reading circuit diagrams and performing basic debugging
  • Experience designing effective software architectures for critical high-reliability systems
  • Capability to write maintainable and responsive multithreaded applications
  • Knowledge of digital communication systems
  • Experience with space flight avionics or ground system software
  • Knowledge of automated software tests and continuous integration systems
  • Experience with navigation visualization systems
  • Experience interfacing with various sensors and cameras
