Description For Algorithm Developer (Quant Researcher) – 2025 PhDs

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking Algorithm Developers (Quant Researchers) for a 2025 start date. This role is ideal for current PhD students in quantitative disciplines.

As an Algorithm Developer, you will:

  • Apply rigorous statistical analysis to vast quantities of market and financial data
  • Produce predictive trading models
  • Work with Software Engineers to research, develop, and test novel order execution and model training methods
  • Run models live on high-performance trading infrastructure
  • Analyze daily performance to maintain ongoing profitability
  • Apply advanced academic research experience to real-world trading problems

Qualifications:

  • Full-time PhD student in a quantitative discipline (math, physics, computer science, statistics, or related)
  • Eligible for full-time roles in 2025
  • Fluency in Python
  • Experience with statistical analysis, numerical programming, or machine learning in Python, Pandas/Numpy, R, and/or MATLAB
  • Brilliant analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work creatively and independently on long-term technical problems

Compensation:

  • Annual base salary range: $175,000 to $250,000
  • Sign-on and discretionary performance bonus
