Hugging Face is seeking a Robotics Hardware Engineer for their LeRobot project, which aims to accelerate the development of AI for Robotics and make it accessible to everyone. The role involves designing and building open-source, affordable robotic hardware, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and interacting with a community of AI and hardware builders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining open-source robotic hardware, including 3D printed parts and electronic components
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Leading and organizing a community of AI and hardware builders
- Staying updated with the latest trends in robotics and AI
- Communicating work on social platforms and attending conferences
The ideal candidate should have knowledge in areas such as:
- Mechanical engineering: gears, actuators, CAD modeling, 3D printing
- Control systems: PID controllers, real-time control systems
- Mechatronics: sensors, electric motors, bio-inspired robotics
- Interdisciplinary knowledge: ROS, Python, C++, PyTorch, neural networks

Responsibilities For Robotics Hardware Engineer
- Design, build, create tutorials and maintain open-source and affordable robotic hardware
- Collaborate with a small multidisciplinary team
- Lead, organize and interact with a community of AI and hardware builders
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, research and developments in robotics and AI
- Communicate about work on social platforms, organize hackathons and attend targeted top-tier international conferences
Requirements For Robotics Hardware Engineer
- Knowledge in mechanical engineering: gears, actuators, material science, strength of materials, CAD modeling, 3D printing, etc.
- Experience with control systems: PID controllers, modeling and simulation, real-time control systems
- Familiarity with mechatronics: sensors, electric motors, bio-inspired robotics, human-robot interaction
- Interdisciplinary knowledge: ROS, Python, C++, PyTorch, neural networks, transformers, reinforcement learning
- Commitment to open-source innovation
- Willingness to work in-person at the Paris office
