Database Engineer, Senior

Hummingbirds Innovations is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join their team in Bethesda, MD. This challenging position involves working on a new, high-profile, large-scale application with users in 50+ organizations across the Sponsor. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle, and will work alongside another senior DBA to create, modify, and delete tables to meet customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Specifying, designing, developing, testing, and deploying the final system with a team of software developers
• Creating DDLs for database management
• Participating in iterative development using scrum techniques
• Designing and implementing data models and databases across multiple classification fabrics
• Implementing security features such as access control, role separation, audit and logging, and system monitoring
• Collaborating with stakeholders to analyze requirements and develop user stories
• Providing demonstrations and walk-throughs of data model and repository features
• Rapid prototyping to refine requirements and design

The ideal candidate should have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 10+ years of experience (or equivalent based on education level)
• Significant experience with MySQL and other relational databases
• User-level experience with Linux and strong SQL skills
• Experience with cloud-based databases and AWS Cloud services (a plus)
• Knowledge of standard data exchange formats, including XML
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and communicate effectively with team leads and senior leadership
