Hummingbirds Innovations is seeking a Network Engineer to join the Luke Team, supporting the customer's data communications network. The role involves maintaining network hardware and software, ensuring network availability, and designing routing solutions. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Cisco network solutions, software-defined networks, and firewalls from AWS, Google, and Microsoft.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deploying, configuring, and monitoring active network equipment
- Troubleshooting and resolving network issues
- Implementing security measures and optimizing network performance
- Maintaining SOPs and network design documentation
- Performing network upgrades and supporting third-party applications
- Conducting root cause analysis and resolving connectivity issues
- Maintaining accurate network documentation and preparing performance reports
- Setting up alerts and monitoring systems for network health
Required qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
- 5+ years of experience (or 4+ with a master's, 3+ with a PhD)
- Experience with Cisco and/or Juniper network platforms
- Knowledge of networking protocols, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, and VPNs
- Familiarity with network management platforms like Solarwinds
- Experience in network device hardening
- Knowledge of various operating systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Scripting skills for network task automation
The role is full-time (40 hours per week) with benefits, located on-site in McLean, VA. The Luke program supports software engineering, O&M, technology investigations, customer advocacy, business process engineering, and system design across NOVA and Bethesda.
