hyperexponential is a rapidly growing company at the forefront of innovation in the insurance industry. As a Backend Engineer in our Models team, you'll be part of a dynamic and creative environment where technological boundaries are constantly pushed.

Your mission will be crucial in our exciting 2023 growth phase. We're looking to deliver more features in parallel, sooner, and safer than ever before. You'll help us refresh and rework our systems to prepare for future challenges, making this an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in rapidly scaling engineering organizations.

In the Models team, you'll drive innovation in developing core product features, empowering customers to write, version, test, and visualize their models effortlessly. A key focus will be revamping our technology stack and rearchitecting our core model codebase to align with modern industry standards.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to build the right solutions, writing high-quality code, driving technical standards and strategy, continual learning and improvement, reducing friction in processes, and supporting the product in production through an on-call rota.

We're looking for a polyglot programmer proficient in Rust, Kotlin, and Python, with experience in complex data structures and building cloud applications at scale. You should have a strong foundation in computer science and software engineering principles, as well as experience with full product development lifecycles.

  • Work with product managers, designers, fellow engineers, and customers to understand problems and develop solutions
  • Write high-quality, thoughtful, simple, commented, documented, tested, well-structured code
  • Help drive technical standards, decisions, and strategy
  • Continually learn and improve through work and hackathons
  • Help reduce friction and eliminate impediments
  • Help evolve ways of working as the company grows
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams on cross-team dependencies and initiatives
  • Join an on-call rota to support the product in production
