Backend Engineer (Kotlin/ Python)

hyperexponential is seeking a Backend Engineer to join their engineering department, which is described as a melting pot of bright and kind engineers. The company is experiencing rapid growth in 2024, with an expanding customer base and many exciting features to develop. The role is part of the Model Development Experience (MDX) Team, whose mission is to empower customers to build and iterate their models faster and easier, with advanced tooling for novel insights and assistance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to understand problems and develop solutions
• Writing high-quality, thoughtful, and well-structured code
• Driving technical standards, decisions, and strategy
• Continual learning and improvement through work and hackathons
• Helping to reduce friction and eliminate impediments
• Evolving ways of working as the company grows
• Coordinating with other engineering teams
• Supporting the product in production by joining an on-call rota

The ideal candidate should have experience with Kotlin/JVM technologies, Spring & Hibernate, and a good understanding of fundamental computer science and software engineering principles. Knowledge of Python and/or TypeScript is a plus but not required.

The interview process consists of an initial call with the Talent team, followed by a Manager Interview, Skills Interview, and Values Interview.
