hyperexponential is seeking a Kotlin Engineer to join their engineering team in London. The company is experiencing rapid growth and is looking to expand its capabilities to deliver more features in parallel, sooner, and safer than ever before.
The role is part of the Model Development Experience (MDX) Team, whose mission is to empower customers to build and iterate their models faster and easier, with advanced tooling for novel insights and assistance. The team is also focused on improving existing user flows and modularizing technical systems.
As a Kotlin Engineer, you'll be working on complex software solutions, including hx Renew, which requires a highly technical and creative engineering mindset. You'll be part of a dynamic environment that pushes technological boundaries through regular work and hackathons.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand problems and develop solutions, writing high-quality code, driving technical standards and strategy, continually learning and improving, helping to evolve ways of working as the company grows, and supporting the product in production.
The ideal candidate should have experience with Kotlin/JVM technologies, Spring, and Hibernate. A good understanding of version control systems and fundamental computer science principles is essential. Experience with a complete product development lifecycle is required, and basic knowledge of Python or TypeScript is a plus.
The interview process consists of an initial call with the Talent team, followed by a Manager Interview, Skills Interview, and Values Interview.

Responsibilities For Kotlin Engineer
- Help build the right solutions by collaborating with product managers, designers, fellow engineers, and customers
- Write high-quality, thoughtful, simple, commented, documented, tested, well-structured code
- Help drive technical standards, decisions, and strategy
- Continually learn and improve through work and hackathons
- Help reduce friction and eliminate impediments
- Help evolve ways of working as the company grows
- Coordinate with other engineering teams on cross-team dependencies and initiatives
- Support the product in production by joining an on-call rota
Requirements For Kotlin Engineer
- Experience using Kotlin / JVM technologies with Spring & Hibernate
- Understanding of Version Control Systems (VCS) and their principles
- Good working knowledge of fundamental computer science and software engineering principles
- Experience with a complete product development lifecycle
- Basic knowledge of Python and/or TypeScript is a plus but not required
