Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), founded by George Lucas in 1975, is seeking a Media Systems Engineer for their Sydney location. This role combines technical expertise with creative industry knowledge, focusing on maintaining and developing media production systems. The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in visual effects, VR, AR, and Immersive Cinema. Responsibilities For Media Systems Engineer
- Provides high-level Avid Media Composer support to studio
- Provides frontline maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of equipment
- Maintains media server software and associated hardware
- Works with global counterparts to design, install and document new media production systems
- Creates and maintains documentation for systems
- Instructs technical and production staff on proper operation of media systems
- Conducts research and evaluation of new technology and trends
- Participates in off-hours maintenance and upgrades
- Works to ensure best security practices are met and maintained
Requirements For Media Systems Engineer
- Installation and maintenance experience in post-production facilities
- Solid understanding of media production and post-production technology
- Experience with projection technology and applications
- Advanced Linux, Mac OS, Windows configurations skills
- Basic scripting experience with Python or other script languages
- Familiarity with AV networking streaming technology
- SAN and NAS storage management preferred
- Basic to intermediate color theory knowledge preferred
