Description For EHS Engineer

The EHS Engineer at Innophos is a crucial role within the EHS Department at the Nashville, TN site. This position serves as a primary technical resource for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and operational excellence. Working under the site EHS Manager, the engineer plays a central role in advancing all aspects of the site's Environmental and Safety programs and initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing EHS direction, leadership, and training to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance
  • Supporting compliance programs, procedures, and policies
  • Implementing and maintaining environmental programs, including permit management and regulatory reporting
  • Developing, writing, implementing, auditing, and maintaining EHS policies and procedures
  • Delivering training sessions on various EHS topics
  • Conducting inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations
  • Managing the site's HAZCOM program

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of EHS experience with a strong emphasis on environmental aspects
  • Experience with Air, Water, and Waste permits
  • Professional certifications such as CSP or CHMM
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices

Responsibilities For EHS Engineer

  • Provide EHS direction, leadership, and training to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance
  • Support compliance programs, procedures, and policies
  • Maintain all site environmental permits and conduct required periodic program inspections
  • Coordinate and submit regulatory reports
  • Develop, write, implement, audit, and maintain EHS policies and procedures
  • Deliver training sessions on environmental and safety regulations
  • Perform inspections for potential EHS risks
  • Contribute to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations
  • Assist with management of Workers Compensation and related claims
  • Maintain required safety and environmental program records
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on safety and environmental program activity
  • Manage and maintain site's HAZCOM program

Requirements For EHS Engineer

  • Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science or a related science or engineering degree
  • 5 or more years of EHS experience with a strong emphasis on environmental
  • Experience with Air, Water, Waste permits and supporting actions
  • Professional training and/or certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), 40 Hour HAZWOPER, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to be effective in a team-based environment
  • Exceptional people skills
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices
