Isomorphic Labs, an Alphabet company, is revolutionizing drug discovery through AI and computational approaches. We're seeking an Engineer in Applied Machine Learning to join our London team. In this role, you'll work on a groundbreaking ML-based software platform aimed at transforming the biopharmaceutical industry. You'll collaborate with top engineers, scientists, and ML researchers to build critical systems that drive this transformation.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing cutting-edge ML models at scale, applying state-of-the-art techniques to real-world drug discovery challenges, and building a world-class ML drug design research environment. You'll create novel drug discovery tools, work closely with domain experts, and develop libraries for large-scale ML experiments.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in large-scale ML model development, proficiency in frameworks like JAX, PyTorch, or TensorFlow, and a strong background in software engineering. You should be comfortable with the full ML research and development lifecycle and have experience working with research and product teams.

Responsibilities For Engineer, Applied Machine Learning

  • Partner with ML Research, Drug Design, and Data Engineering teams to design, develop, train, and evaluate cutting edge ML models at unprecedented scale
  • Apply state-of-the-art ML models and techniques to real-life drug discovery challenges
  • Build a world-class ML drug design research environment with scalable software and libraries
  • Create novel instrumental drug discovery tools in partnership with domain experts
  • Iterate collaboratively with scientists and domain experts to understand feature requirements and user feedback
  • Develop tools and libraries to enable large-scale machine learning experiments across thousands of accelerators
  • Maximize model performance, scalability, and robustness for production use within the computational platform

Requirements For Engineer, Applied Machine Learning

Python
  • Deep experience with developing large-scale machine learning models
  • Significant experience with solving real-life challenges with ML models and techniques
  • Experience with modern ML frameworks including at least one of JAX, PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Experience with the full ML research and development lifecycle
  • Experience partnering with research and product teams to prototype and ideally productionise ML models
  • Strong software engineering experience with software design / architecture skills
  • Extensive programming experience using any mainstream programming languages, including strong Python experience
  • Strong understanding of ML theory and applications
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
