As a Project Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of sustainable transportation infrastructure. This position combines technical expertise with project management, requiring a Professional Engineer license and 5-10 years of experience in complex urban design projects.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of climate technology and urban infrastructure. You'll lead comprehensive project management for charger deployments, from initial site assessment through construction completion. Your responsibilities will include technical design, permit management, contractor coordination, and establishing company-wide standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong electrical and mechanical engineering expertise, with experience in urban infrastructure projects. While EV charging experience isn't required, understanding electrical distribution systems is crucial. You'll need excellent communication skills to explain complex engineering concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities For Project Engineer Boston (PE License)

  • Overall project management for charger deployments
  • Site assessment and evaluation, including available power capacity
  • Overall project design and engineering, including drawings and specifications
  • Signing and stamping permit drawings to local authorities
  • Coordination with local permit authorities and utilities
  • Contractor bid and award
  • Construction administration and coordination
  • Establishing company-wide technical and strategic standards and priorities
  • Development of novel technology that reduces charger installation cost and time
  • Management of technical sub-consultants
  • Coordination with project managers and designers across regions
  • Representation at property site visits, conferences, events, public hearings, community board events, and panels

Requirements For Project Engineer Boston (PE License)

  • Professional Engineer License or completed Engineer-in-Training programs
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering
  • Experience in complex urban design and build projects
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems in cities and buildings
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC) and National Electric Safety Code
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam
  • Ability to convey engineering principles in non-technical language
  • Experience working with trades and contractors
  • Must be able to lift equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Must work in-person four days a week at Greentown Labs in Boston
  • Flexibility to travel across the country monthly
