Responsibilities For Staff Backend Engineer
- Develop, iterate, and test scalable backend features for web applications
- Implement and integrate cloud-based solutions in coordination with platform support teams
- Collaborate with leadership to gather and translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Work closely with designers and engineers to ensure smooth front-end and back-end integration
- Maintain, optimize, and enhance existing applications to improve performance and security
- Participate in Agile processes, including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Provide support and troubleshooting assistance for backend systems
Requirements For Staff Backend Engineer
- 10+ years of experience in backend development
- Expertise in Python and deep knowledge of APIs, including RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and JSON-RPC
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (EKS, MSK, OpenSearch)
- Experience with event-driven architectures and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong background in relational and non-relational databases
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform preferred)
- Proficiency in DevOps workflows, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing
- Strong knowledge of authentication and authorization systems
- Experience with monitoring and performance engineering tools
- Ability to obtain and maintain an MRPT clearance
- Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Must be located within the United States and able to work Eastern Time Zone hours
- Occasional travel may be required (less than 25% annually)
