Senior Software Engineer, Fraud Prevention

Justworks is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Fraud Prevention team, which is part of the larger Employer Risk vertical. This is a new team built from the ground up, focusing on building backend services and frontend experiences to automate and scale the detection and prevention of fraudulent entities and activities in the Justworks platform.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be one of the founding engineers responsible for building 0 to 1 software services and tools. You'll work within a service-oriented architecture, separating data and functionality as necessary, and demonstrating an understanding of automated testing as a productivity multiplier.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with a cross-functional team to build solutions to detect and prevent fraud
• Taking ownership of designing and implementing APIs, systems integrations, data models, and backend services
• Promoting engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship
• Instating best-practices observability and monitoring as "first principles" of all services
• Keeping extremely sensitive data compartmentalized and secure

The ideal candidate should have:

• Minimum of 5 years of professional hands-on experience
• Strong object-oriented design and coding skills
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Prior experience in fraud detection and prevention (strongly preferred)
• Experience building new features from scratch, using clean, organized, and scalable code
• Experience supporting other engineers and acting as a "tech lead"
• Experience working with complicated systems at scale
• Experience working using Agile/Scrum methodology in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in a high-growth environment working with deadlines and milestones
