K2 Space is seeking an Avionics Systems Engineer to join their team in Los Angeles, CA. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on some of the largest, most powerful, rapidly designed and manufactured satellites. As the Responsible Engineer for avionics interfacing, harnessing, instrumentation, and GNC actuators, you'll be at the forefront of spacecraft hardware design and system implementation.
In this role, you'll collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers to make impactful architecture trades, design new spacecraft hardware, and manage the overall avionics system implementation. You'll also help establish production and vehicle hardware in the loop (HITL) test infrastructure to enable high-velocity software development, supporting the first satellite launch and reaching high-rate constellation launch cadence.
Key responsibilities include serving as the Responsible Engineer for avionics system design, collaborating with cross-functional teams, creating technical documentation, executing hardware testing, supporting spacecraft integration, and developing test platforms. You'll also write modular, reusable test and automation software in Python.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering (or equivalent experience), 3+ years of experience in space-grade avionics systems, and the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment. Experience with Linux, Python, and hardware test automation is highly valued.
