Description For RF Digital Communications & Signal Processing Engineer

K2 Space is seeking an RF Digital Communications & Signal Processing Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for communication systems on powerful satellites. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge space technology.

As the RF Digital Communications & Signal Processing Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, testing, and integrating new DSP algorithms and software defined radio (SDR) systems for satellite communications. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of RF, FPGA, software, mechanical, and electrical engineers to prototype systems and refine designs. Within your first two years, you'll have the opportunity to see your system deployed in space.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design and implementation of DSP algorithms for embedded devices and SDRs
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop software defined radio systems
  • Serving as a technical leader and mentor within the team

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in RF digital communications and DSP systems
  • Strong knowledge of DSP concepts, digital communications theory, and signal detection topologies
  • Experience with GNUradio, Python, MATLAB, and/or C/C++
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment

Responsibilities For RF Digital Communications & Signal Processing Engineer

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of DSP algorithms for embedded devices and SDRs
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of software and hardware engineers to develop software defined radio systems
  • Act as technical leader and subject-matter expert helping to teach, grow, and mentor others in the team

Requirements For RF Digital Communications & Signal Processing Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field
  • 5+ years of experience in RF digital communications and DSP systems
  • Strong knowledge of DSP concepts such as: modems, channelizers, Doppler compensation, resampling signal processing, adaptive filtering, and floating vs fixed point implementations
  • Strong knowledge of digital communications theory and systems
  • Strong experience with signal detection topologies
  • Strong experience in developing filter topologies
  • Strong experience implementing transmitting and receiving topologies in GNUradio
  • Strong experience with Python, MATLAB, and/or C/C++
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high velocity start-up atmosphere
  • U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (ITAR requirement)
