Description For Lead Engineer, Structural Integrity of Graphite Core Components

Kairos Power, an innovative nuclear energy technology company, is seeking a Lead Engineer for Structural Integrity of Graphite Core Components. This role is crucial in their mission to enable the world's transition to clean energy through the development of fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactors (FHR).

The position requires a highly skilled professional with 10+ years of experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) applied to graphite core components. You'll be reporting to the Manager of Structural Integrity & Materials Modeling, driving the development and deployment of novel analysis methods and numerical models essential for the design, licensing, and operation of KP-FHRs.

Key responsibilities include supporting the development of constitutive models for structural graphite materials, performing thermal and mechanical analysis, and improving design-by-analysis methodologies. You'll work cross-functionally with various engineering teams on uncertainty quantification, software Quality Assurance, and support licensing milestones.

The ideal candidate should possess a BS in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Materials Engineering (MS or PhD preferred), with extensive experience in FEA and scientific programming languages. Strong knowledge of inelastic deformation and failure mechanisms of quasi-brittle components is highly valued.

Working at Kairos Power offers competitive compensation ($133,900-$157,500 for Alameda, CA location) and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and various FSA options. The role requires occasional travel (up to 10%) and offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on revolutionizing clean energy solutions.

Join a team dedicated to improving people's quality of life while protecting the environment through innovative nuclear technology. This position offers the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of clean energy development while working with advanced engineering techniques and technologies.
