Kairos Power, an innovative nuclear energy technology company, is seeking a Lead Engineer for Structural Integrity of Graphite Core Components. This role is crucial in their mission to enable the world's transition to clean energy through the development of fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactors (FHR).
The position requires a highly skilled professional with 10+ years of experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) applied to graphite core components. You'll be reporting to the Manager of Structural Integrity & Materials Modeling, driving the development and deployment of novel analysis methods and numerical models essential for the design, licensing, and operation of KP-FHRs.
Key responsibilities include supporting the development of constitutive models for structural graphite materials, performing thermal and mechanical analysis, and improving design-by-analysis methodologies. You'll work cross-functionally with various engineering teams on uncertainty quantification, software Quality Assurance, and support licensing milestones.
The ideal candidate should possess a BS in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Materials Engineering (MS or PhD preferred), with extensive experience in FEA and scientific programming languages. Strong knowledge of inelastic deformation and failure mechanisms of quasi-brittle components is highly valued.
