The role focuses on radiation detection instrumentation for their Hermes test reactor and FHRs, requiring expertise in radiation transport, detection, instrumentation, and dosimetry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in nuclear facilities, particularly with test and research reactors.

Responsibilities For Nuclear Engineer

  • Support development and deployment of radiation detection instrumentation
  • Develop and maintain area, effluent, and environmental monitoring programs
  • Work with stakeholders on Hermes' Final Safety Analysis application
  • Perform worker dose calculations across the plant
  • Engage with external vendors and testing labs

Requirements For Nuclear Engineer

  • MS or PhD in Nuclear Engineering with focus on radiation detection or health physics
  • Experience with designing and setting up detector characterization tests
  • Experience with semiconductor detectors (HPGe and CZT)
  • Experience with digital signal processing techniques and instrumentation
  • Experience with gamma spectroscopy
  • Experience with detector response modeling software
  • Experience with variance reduction techniques
  • Familiarity with CAD design software
  • Experience with applying ML/AI in radiation detection applications
