They're seeking a Nuclear Engineer to join their Nuclear Design and Methods team in Alameda, CA. The role focuses on radiation detection instrumentation for their Hermes test reactor and FHRs.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in radiation transport, detection, instrumentation, and dosimetry, with hands-on experience in nuclear facilities. Responsibilities For Nuclear Engineer

  • Support development and deployment of radiation detection instrumentation
  • Develop and maintain area, effluent, and environmental monitoring programs
  • Work with stakeholders on Hermes' Final Safety Analysis application
  • Perform worker dose calculations across the plant
  • Engage with external vendors and testing labs

Requirements For Nuclear Engineer

  • MS or PhD in Nuclear Engineering with focus on radiation detection or health physics
  • Experience with research reactor facilities preferred
  • Experience with detector characterization tests
  • Experience with semiconductor detectors (HPGe and CZT)
  • Experience with digital signal processing techniques
  • Experience with gamma spectroscopy
  • Experience with detector response modeling software
  • Familiarity with CAD design software
  • Experience with ML/AI in radiation detection applications
