Description For Systems Integration, Project Engineer

Kairos Power, a pioneering nuclear energy technology company, is on a mission to revolutionize clean energy. We're commercializing the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) to provide safe, affordable, and flexible power that complements variable renewables. As a Systems Integration Project Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in our small, empowered team, directly contributing to the success of our groundbreaking technology.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating work across various stakeholders, eliminating roadblocks, and implementing rapid solutions for complex issues. You'll support design and operational tradeoffs, maintain excellent communication, and interact with internal and external parties on equipment designs and component fabrication. This dynamic role requires a strong technical background, with 7+ years of engineering integration experience.

We're looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, or related engineering discipline. You should thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong interpersonal skills, and have experience in detailed design, procurement, testing/operations, and manufacturing/construction. Knowledge of Process Design, P&IDs, PFDs, and multisystem power or industrial plant operations is desired.

Responsibilities For Systems Integration, Project Engineer

  • Coordinate work across various stakeholders for complex issues impacting project objectives/milestones
  • Eliminate roadblocks across teams by increasing transparency of engineering information
  • Support efforts to close design and operational tradeoffs and coordinate project reviews
  • Maintain excellent communication with teams and project lead(s) of status and issues
  • Interact with internal/external parties on equipment designs or fabrication of components
  • Support the development of systems engineering design best practices, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements For Systems Integration, Project Engineer

  • Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, or other related engineering discipline
  • 7+ years of engineering integration experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced small company environment
  • Experience in detailed design, procurement activities, testing/operations, and manufacturing/construction
  • Experience with design and delivery of complex and multi-disciplinary system assemblies
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Process Design, P&IDs, PFDs, and multisystem power or industrial plant operations (desired)
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
