Description For Engineer

Kepak is an Irish owned food company with over 50 years of expertise in the meat craft. They are seeking an Engineer to provide effective maintenance support to the Production team, maintain and repair equipment, machinery, and tools used in the factory.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake Electrical and Mechanical routine checking of equipment
  • Troubleshoot using PLC Logic
  • Perform electro-mechanical repairs on high-speed, PLC-controlled plant and equipment
  • Provide technical support for plant facilities and services
  • Carry out Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Routines
  • Monitor line and machine performance
  • Analyze efficiency and suggest improvements
  • Work with equipment suppliers on new installations and modifications
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas
  • Update the maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Participate in safety procedures and training

The role offers a competitive salary of £41,296.00 per annum, with a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (12-hour shifts, averaging 42 hours per week). Benefits include 31 days Annual Leave, Employee Benefits Platform, Pension Plan, Training & Development opportunities, and more.

Ideal candidates should have NVQ Level 3 Mechanical and/or Electrical Qualification, BS7671 18th Edition certification, strong diagnostic skills, and experience in a food production environment. The role requires a proactive attitude, adaptability, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities For Engineer

  • Undertake Electrical and Mechanical routine checking of equipment, quality inspections and troubleshooting on the production lines and process, working to minimise down time
  • Troubleshooting using PLC Logic
  • Electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, also pneumatic and hydraulic control systems
  • Effective communication with productions teams, providing timely updates on breakdowns/down time
  • Technical support for the plant facilities and services, including compressed air, refrigeration, and steam
  • Input to and carry out Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Routines
  • Support Production Team in achieving targets
  • Closely monitor line and machine performance, identifying and investigating faults
  • Intervene online as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs
  • Analyse the efficiency of current procedures and suggest improvements
  • Work with equipment suppliers on new equipment, installations, and modifications
  • Maintain cleanliness in any areas in which you are working, including any transit areas to and from the workshop, including the workshop and stores
  • Update the maintenance management system (CMMS), records of all changes, stores transactions made, and work carried out
  • Actively participate in toolbox talks and undertake permit to work and/or risk assessments
  • Be available to support and participate in rotating shift cover roster
  • Ensure all systems comply with the relevant health and safety legislation, as well a relevant site food hygiene and safety requirements

Requirements For Engineer

  • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical and/or Electrical Qualification essential
  • BS7671 18th Edition - 17th is acceptable with ongoing commitment to 18th
  • Experience working in meat/food production environment preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC control, refrigeration and PTW systems desirable
  • Strong diagnostic/root cause analysis skills essential
  • Proactive and "can-do" attitude essential
  • Adaptable to change and willingness to upskill and learn new disciplines as required
  • Sound understanding of integrity and compliance to relevant legislation and company processes/procedures
  • Fluent English, communicates well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
  • Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines
  • Relationship builder with influencing skills
  • Strong team player
