As a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of building an iconic consumer product that's reshaping the future of travel. You'll lead key technical decisions, from architecture to infrastructure, while working directly with co-founders and cross-functional teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a fast-growing startup while mentoring future tech leaders.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with a proven track record of scaling systems and leading critical projects. You should be comfortable with modern cloud infrastructure, devops practices, and have experience making complex technical decisions. We're looking for someone who combines technical excellence with strong communication skills and a pragmatic approach to engineering.

Responsibilities For Senior / Staff Backend Engineer
- Serve as technology lead and own key decisions including tech stack and strategy for backend design, data infrastructure, and machine learning investments
- Work directly with co-founders, product designers, and frontend engineers to build the first version of platform
- Help establish and grow engineering organization and mentor next generation of technology leaders
- Have access to world class technical advisors and angels for mentorship and support
Requirements For Senior / Staff Backend Engineer
- 5+ years of technical experience as a backend software engineer
- Experience crafting robust backends and database structures that can scale with user volume and business complexity
- Experience with devops (setting up CI/CD, containerization)
- Experience with service providers like AWS, configured CDNs, used Heroku
- Demonstrated success operating as a tech lead on critical projects
- Prior experience at a high-growth stage company
- Strong judgment and ability to make difficult technical tradeoff decisions
- Excellent listener and strong communicator
- Comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity
- Pragmatic approach to engineering
