Kindred, a members-only home swapping network, is seeking a Senior / Staff Web Engineer to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the product and define the technical roadmap from the ground up.
As a key member of the engineering team, you'll serve as a technology lead, owning crucial decisions on tech stack and mobile development strategy. You'll work closely with co-founders, CTO, product designers, and fellow engineers to build Kindred's platform. Your responsibilities will include establishing and growing the engineering organization, mentoring future technology leaders, and leveraging world-class technical advisors for support.
The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience building web applications with React, expertise in architecting scalable frontend solutions, and proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript. You should be skilled in performance optimization, building reusable UI components, and have a deep understanding of consumer-facing UX.

Responsibilities For Senior / Staff Web Engineer
- Serve as technology lead and own key decisions including the tech stack and strategy for all aspects of mobile development
- Work directly with the co-founders, CTO, product designers, and engineers to build our platform
- Help establish and grow our engineering organization and mentor the next generation of technology leaders
- Have access to our bench of world class technical advisors and angels for mentorship and support as needed
Requirements For Senior / Staff Web Engineer
- 5+ years of experience building web applications using React (or equivalent frameworks)
- Experience in architecting scalable frontend solutions and integrating with backend APIs
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frontend tools (e.g., Webpack, Tailwind)
- Skills in performance optimization to ensure smooth and responsive web experiences
- Experience building scalable and reusable UI components, including design systems
- Strong attention to detail in UI design and a deep understanding of consumer-facing UX
- Demonstrated success operating as a tech lead on critical projects at previous roles
- Prior experience at a high-growth stage company
- Ability to exercise strong judgment and make difficult technical tradeoff decisions
- Excellent listener and strong communicator, working well cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
