Backend Engineer

Kitman Labs is the performance intelligence company, disrupting and transforming the way the sports industry uses data to unlock the potential of the world's top athletes. Our advanced operating system, the Intelligence Platform (iP), is used by over 2000 teams in 50 leagues on 6 continents, including the NFL, Premier League, National Women's Soccer League and MLS.

As a Backend Engineer at Kitman Labs, you'll be responsible for building the core data-flows of our products, focusing on security, privacy, robustness, and performance. You'll work on APIs and data processing pipelines handling massive amounts of data from sports teams globally. Collaborating with our Data Science team, you'll build and maintain data models at the cutting edge of injury risk prevention technology.

We're seeking candidates with a strong background or interest in building successful products, comfortable with complex systems, and open to new technologies. You should be detail-oriented yet pragmatic, with a focus on continuous improvement of our engineering processes, standards, and tooling.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and data-stores
• Collaborating with frontend engineers to create user-loved features
• Assisting data scientists in implementing the latest data processing techniques and models
• Debugging production issues across services and multiple stack levels
• Contributing to our technical architecture as we grow

We're looking for experience in building APIs or dynamic web applications, ability to learn new technologies quickly, and a commitment to high-quality, standardized, fully tested code delivered in a CI/CD environment. While we primarily use Ruby, we value your ability to learn over specific language experience.

Experience with Amazon Web Services and infrastructure as code (like Terraform) is a plus.
