Description For Data Engineering Team Lead

For this role, you will be responsible for operating and managing Hadoop clusters and related ecosystems, as well as building and operating infrastructure based on Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will also be in charge of integrating monitoring systems and managing on-call processes. This position requires extensive experience in data engineering and project management skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating and managing Hadoop clusters and related ecosystems
  • Building and managing infrastructure using Terraform and other IaC tools
  • Constructing and managing Kubernetes (K8s) clusters, implementing and operating CI/CD pipelines
  • Developing and maintaining real-time data infrastructure monitoring systems
  • Managing and optimizing on-call processes to ensure infrastructure stability
  • Collaborating with various departments within the team to successfully execute projects
  • Evaluating new technologies and sharing/implementing them within the team

Required qualifications:

  • 10+ years of total experience, with 5+ years in data engineering
  • 2+ years of team or project leadership experience (leading a team of 3 or more)
  • Ability to coach team members
  • Proficiency in infrastructure management using Terraform
  • Experience in Kubernetes (K8s) setup and management
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipeline construction and operation
  • Ability to build monitoring systems and establish/operate on-call processes
  • Focus on operational stability
  • Ability to simplify and systematize work processes
  • Strong communication skills
  • Openness to reviewing and sharing new technologies
  • Availability for overseas travel

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in Terraform module development
  • Experience in Helm Chart development
  • Experience in customizing open-source data systems
  • Experience working in Databricks environments
  • Deep understanding of the Hadoop ecosystem
  • Experience in optimization and issue resolution using Spark
  • Experience in network and service management in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Business-level proficiency in Chinese or English
