Based in Pittsburgh, with additional engineering centers in Dearborn and Palo Alto, you'll work alongside experts in machine learning, robotics, and systems engineering.

The role focuses on ensuring product safety through the entire development lifecycle, from core development to implementation in serial-production vehicles. You'll lead functional safety activities, working with ISO-26262 standards, and developing safety-critical software for autonomous systems. Responsibilities For Senior Software Safety Engineer

  • Lead functional safety activities across the software organization
  • Translate ISO-26262 part 6 requirements into specific actions for the software team
  • Build/prototype functional safety software development for safety-critical applications
  • Lead software safety architecture development and Runtime on high performance SOCs
  • Create and track requirements for embedded high-performance software development
  • Interface with various teams to drive traceability between system-level requirements
  • Create automated unit and integration tests
  • Lead safety activities for qualification of pre-existing software components
  • Contribute to the complete system safety case
  • Work with project management on functional safety processes and improvements

Requirements For Senior Software Safety Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related field and 7+ years of experience
  • Strong record working in system safety related to software design and development
  • Experience with complex software architecture and development (C/C++)
  • Experience with safety related operating systems (QNX, Autosar) and Linux
  • Experience in developing embedded software on resource-constrained platforms
  • Knowledge of automotive functional safety standards (ISO-26262)
  • Experience in safety-critical software development processes
  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals
  • Previous experience delivering products following safety lifecycle
