Latitude AI (lat.ai) is an automated driving technology company developing a hands-free, eyes-off driver assist system for next-generation Ford vehicles at scale. We're driven by the opportunity to reimagine what it's like to drive and make travel safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone.

When you join the Latitude team, you'll work alongside leading experts across machine learning and robotics, cloud platforms, mapping, sensors and compute systems, test operations, systems and safety engineering – all dedicated to making a real, positive impact on the driving experience for millions of people.

As a Ford Motor Company subsidiary, we operate independently to develop automated driving technology at the speed of a technology startup. Latitude is headquartered in Pittsburgh with engineering centers in Dearborn, Mich., and Palo Alto, Calif.

The Platform Systems, Integration, and Test Team at Latitude is responsible for the design, integration, and testing of all interface functions between the self-driving technology and robotics platform. These functions include motion control, fault handling, HMI, and controls integration, along with the overall vehicle architecture. We specialize in parallelized development of prototype functionality and production designs, enabling all of Latitude to rapidly develop feature intent functionality without incurring significant technical debt.

As a Senior Systems Engineer in Fault Handling Systems, you will:

  • Define the architecture and requirements of our fault handling system, from detection and logging to customer notification and interaction
  • Lead the systems engineering of all customer-facing HMI functions at Latitude
  • Write safety and performance requirements that enable a complex, tightly integrated HMI to support our safety case through ISO 26262 and SOTIF standards
  • Work closely with cross-functional systems and software teams at Latitude and Ford in creating designs
  • Work closely with integration and test engineers to develop and execute the Design Verification Plan
  • Work closely with human factors teams at Ford to generate data-driven metrics for customer use of various HMI interfaces
  • Periodically get hands-on with the product and see the designs in action

This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of automated driving technology and make a significant impact on the safety and enjoyment of driving for millions of people.
