Description For Staff Software Engineer, Perception (Intelligent Systems)

Latitude AI is an automated driving technology company developing a hands-free, eyes-off driver assist system for next-generation Ford vehicles at scale. We're driven by the opportunity to reimagine what it's like to drive and make travel safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone.

When you join the Latitude team, you'll work alongside leading experts across machine learning and robotics, cloud platforms, mapping, sensors and compute systems, test operations, systems and safety engineering – all dedicated to making a real, positive impact on the driving experience for millions of people.

As a Ford Motor Company subsidiary, we operate independently to develop automated driving technology at the speed of a technology startup. Latitude is headquartered in Pittsburgh with engineering centers in Dearborn, Mich., and Palo Alto, Calif.

In the Intelligent Systems team, we convert photons into understanding, primarily via computer vision and machine learning. Our organization is responsible for all downstream tasks of the vehicle sensor suite onboard, as well as the full offboard/cloud infrastructure for machine learning at Latitude.

As a Staff Software Engineer in Perception, you will:

  • Collaborate with perception experts and experienced roboticists to build solutions that scale from the lab to the customer, for one of the largest-scale robotics projects in history.
  • Architect, design, and implement state-of-the-art and beyond solutions in domains such as sensing, machine learning & data platform, mapping, labeling, state estimation, localization, calibration, and performance optimization.
  • Develop production quality software in a fast-paced, highly autonomous environment while maintaining a strong safety culture.

This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in the autonomous vehicle space, with a focus on making driving safer and more enjoyable for millions of people. You'll be part of a team dedicated to solving complex problems in perception and intelligent systems, with access to resources and expertise from both a startup environment and a major automotive company.
