The Platform Systems, Integration, and Test Team is at the heart of integrating self-driving technology with robotics platforms. You'll work alongside experts in machine learning, robotics, cloud platforms, and safety engineering, contributing to technology that will impact millions of drivers. Based in one of our engineering centers (Pittsburgh, Dearborn, or Palo Alto), you'll lead critical initiatives in fault handling and human-machine interface systems. The role requires a strong background in automotive or robotics engineering, with expertise in safety standards and HMI development. You'll be responsible for creating robust systems that ensure safe and confident customer interaction with autonomous features.

Responsibilities For Systems Engineer - HMI and Fault Handling

  • Define architecture and requirements of fault handling system
  • Lead systems engineering of customer-facing HMI functions
  • Write safety and performance requirements for ISO 26262 and SOTIF standards
  • Work with cross-functional systems and software teams at Latitude and Ford
  • Develop and execute Design Verification Plan
  • Work with human factors teams to generate data-driven metrics
  • Hands-on product testing and design verification

Requirements For Systems Engineer - HMI and Fault Handling

Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in automotive or robotics engineering
  • Experience working in production applications of customer HMI
  • Experience writing functional requirements
  • Experience writing safety requirements to meet ISO 26262 or similar standards
