Description For Laser Test Engineer

As a Laser Test Engineer at Lightmatter, you'll be part of a team that's reinventing the future of computing with light. You'll focus on High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) testing, developing novel wafer and package level testing strategies for Lightmatter's innovative laser products. Your responsibilities will include setting up validation capabilities, conducting validation tests, and supporting customer deployment and related technical issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with various teams to understand component capabilities and testing needs
  • Developing and implementing test protocols
  • Maintaining testing equipment and improving efficiency through automation
  • Analyzing test data and providing feedback to the development team
  • Bringing up laser test equipment and modules
  • Measuring the impact of lasers on data link performance

To excel in this role, you should have a Master's degree in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, along with 3-6 years of experience as a laser test engineer. Your expertise should cover laser characterization, die-level, board-level, and wafer-scale testing, and proficiency with various test equipment and programming languages for test automation.

Responsibilities For Laser Test Engineer

  • Work with various teams to understand component capabilities and testing needs
  • Develop and implement test protocols

  • Bring-up of laser test equipment and laser modules

  • Travel to Palo Alto as needed

Requirements For Laser Test Engineer

Python
  • Master's in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3 - 6 years of experience as a laser test engineer
  • Experience in characterization of lasers and SOAs
  • Experience in die-level, board-level, and wafer-scale testing
  • Experience with test equipment (benchtop lasers, VNA, switches, OSA, ESA, BERT, etc.)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or LabView for test automation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Clear communication skills
