As a Physical Design Engineer at Lightmatter, you'll be integral to our mission of (re)inventing the future of computing with light. You'll work on backend digital execution for cutting-edge photonics-based interconnect solutions, collaborating with world-class scientists and engineers. This role combines traditional physical design expertise with the exciting challenge of working on revolutionary technology.
Your responsibilities will span from synthesis through routing, timing closure, and tapeout signoff. You'll be working with industry-standard tools while tackling unprecedented challenges in the field. The position requires strong technical skills in physical design, CMOS technologies, and programming capabilities in TCL and Python.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of industry experience, with a strong background in custom layout and proven success with large ASICs or mixed signal chips. Responsibilities For Physical Design Engineer
- Implement digital blocks from synthesis through routing
- Define and clean up timing constraints across different timing modes
- Build and customize power grid and ensure power integrity goals
- Debug and clean up DRC/LVS
- Functional and timing ECO implementation
- Manual layouts and silicon photonics layout
- Work with EDA companies to resolve tool issues
- Write TCL, Python, or Shell scripts to automate flow
Requirements For Physical Design Engineer
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 8+ years of industry experience as a Physical Design Engineer
- Minimum of three years of custom layout experience
- Experience in TCL and Python
- Knowledge of Basic SoC Architecture and HDL languages
- Must have completed blocks or top level physical design for large ASICs
- Strong teamwork skills
- Ability to react to change in fast paced environment
